Jikiden Reiki treatment for animals

Reiki care is not a practice exclusive to human beings. It is just as effective for animals. As with humans, Reiki may benefit animals with physical, mental or emotional issues and consequently this holistic complementary therapy may also be of help for animals with behavioral problems that have an emotional basis or influence.

Taking care of my dogs I learned a lot about their anatomy, the way their organs function and their general needs. When rescuing abandoned dogs from Bosnia through our association “Cupko – Deed for Dogs”, I had to learn even more. More than 300 dogs in need passed through my hands, the most of them needed help with illneses and conditions caused by starvation and harsh life in streets. I mainly treat dogs, however, I do my best to help every living beeing in need.

The duration of an animal Reiki treatment is determined by animals. They have their way to end the session when they have received what they needed.

My two dogs, Nalla and Jerry, when they need a treatment come to me and request one.

The Reiki treatment for animals is non-diagnostic, non-interventionist, non-manipulative and no pressure is applied.

Practical reasons for offering Reiki to animals:

  • It is non-invasive
  • It may be given anywhere at any time – hands-on or distantly in a vets practice, hospital, clinic, at “home” or elsewhere
  • It requires no equipment or technology
  • It complements and supports classical veterinary care
  • The animal is in control at all times. Reiki cannot be forced upon an animal. They chose to take it for as long as they like and how they like
  • It is relaxing, so may help pre-treatment /post-op

Depending on the situation and the animal, one session may be all that is required or a number of sessions may be necessary. Every animal is a unique individual and so natural variances will apply.

Animals are very sensitive to energy and without realising it, if their owners or carers are stressed or anxious, their animals pick up on this and it can trigger or exacerbate emotional and behavioural issues in them. As a result, there is a need to sometimes work with both the owner and the animal to help resolve an animal’s issue.

It is recommended that any known or suspected physical health issues are diagnosed by a vet before a Reiki treatment takes place.
